Nordic niche banks are at varying stages of growth, with some launching new products and entering new geographies, and others taking a step back and laying the groundwork for future growth, according to a report published by Nordic Credit Rating (NCR) today.
"Niche banks are stabilising risk profiles and focusing on growth," said NCR credit analyst Sean Cotten. "Lower interest rates and stabilised economies should also support improved asset quality."
In August, Avida and Marginalen announced synthetic risk transfer (SRT) transactions linked to performing consumer loans, which, to our knowledge, are the first of their kind in the Nordic niche bank segment. In this report, we examine SRTs and the opportunities they present for Nordic niche banks.
We will hold a webinar covering the topics in this report, today 4 Sep. 2025, at 14.00. Register here.
