Södra is a leading Swedish forestry cooperative and exporter. It was founded in 1938 following a merger of regional forestry associations in southern Sweden, where most of its forests are still located. Södra has over 50,000 associate members. The company is organised into five segments: Cell, Wood, Skog (Forest), Innovation and Others. Cell produces pulp and co-generated electricity and Wood manufactures sawn wood and related products. Skog is effectively a trading company, buying timber from associate members. Innovation develops and produces biofuels, cross-laminated timber and other products.
