Agder county was established in 2020 following a merger of the former counties of Aust-Agder and Vest-Agder. Occupying an area of 16,500 sq km, it is the southernmost of Norway's 15 counties and ranks seventh in terms of population with over 300,000 inhabitants. Agder contains 25 municipalities. The two largest cities are the county capital Kristiansand and Arendal.
